Step 1, we can have lots of fun!

So, that's it. I'm in Japan! :-) In Tokyo, for the time being actually.

First things first, I've got to change the name of this blog. So far, I've got one suggestion from Kristen: I miss Cootie Satan. Cootie Satan, for those of you that don't know, is what Kristen hears when I attempt to pronounce her name in Japanese. :-P
I'm looking for something that I can maybe keep even after I leave Japan, since I'll probably only be here 9 monthsish. Suggestions, anyone? I'm giving myself a week to come up with something.

Now, for a play by play of my day yesterday (/the day before) (all done in French times so you see just how LONG it was)!

March 31
10:30 AM - leave for airport
12:50 PM - board flight
2:00 PM - take off for Shanghai

7:30 AM - buy train ticket to Tokyo
7:52 AM - finally manage to find and board train to Tokyo
7:53 AM - train to Tokyo leaves (almost having been missed by me)
7:55 AM - 9:30 AM - blessed sleep in train (since I didn't sleep a wink on the airplanes)
9:58 AM ish - arrive Tokyo
10:14 AM - metro leaves Tokyo Station with me on it
10:38 AM - metro leaves Ueno Station with me on it
11:01 AM - arrival at Minami-senju station
11:17 AM - arrival at Juyoh hotel after brief walk (6:17 PM Tokyo time)
12:25 AM ish - Mahalia arrives at hotel
4:45 PM - FINALLY time to SLEEP! (11:45 PM Tokyo time)

After so much not sleeping, it's no wonder I woke up with a headache this morning. And went to sleep with a slight headache last night.

Anyhow, the trip here was LONG.
On the flight to Shanghai, they showed the movie "Daddy's Little Girls" twice, and I watched it zero of those times. Something interesting, though, was that at the beginning, where it normally says "This film has been modified from it's original version. It has been formatted to fit your screen," it was written "This film has been modified from it's original version. It has been formatted to fit your screen and edited for content."
Yeah, that's right.
The movie was censored for China.

Other than that, my first impression of Japan is that the people are extraordinarily friendly. They were all super helpful in helping me find the correct trains and metros and everything, and they didn't even laugh at my practically non-existent Japanese.
Mahalia and I "ate" in a (thankfully non-smoking) bar/restaurant last night, and we chatted with the guy working, attempting to use our Japanese. He was SO nice and even took a picture of us when we left. :-) I think he was the owner, and his wife, who was absolutely adorable, was working as well.

Then afterwards, we went to the (non-smoking again! YAY! It might be easier than I thought to be here) hotel bar, and we chatted with the guy working in a weird mixture of French, Japanese, and English. He seemed to be flirting with Mahalia, which ended up being absolutely adorable.

Other than that, well, the seats of the toilets are heated, which makes me want to spend a LONG time on the toilet. It's sort of wonderful, actually.
There's also a mechanical bidet as part of the toilet, which squirts hot water up at you, and it is the weirdest sensation ever, like reverse peeing.

Well, it is now 10:41 AM, my headache is gone, and it is time to get this show on the road. Be looking for pictures sometime in the near future! I'm going to try to update this far more often now that I'm in JAPAN!!!!
